Hi there, I'm Laina Miller and I'm obsessed with the vast range of creative goodness in the world. My life focus was once strictly on dance. Ballet classes at three years old evolved into rehearsles, workshops, and performances through the age of eighteen. By college, however, I realized my life had fallen short of something quite important and it wasn't long before I dramatically abandoned my life as a dance major, living out of my car in order to persue a career in the visual, rather than performing, arts. Graduating with a degree in Art, emphasis in Graphic Design, I quickly earned a reputation as a "jill-of-all-trades". Utilizing a variety of skill sets ranging from illustration and book-binding to branding and web design, I cleverly approach each design task with innovation and charm. Over the years my entrepreneurial side has become restless, giving way to my freelance design studio and online storefront (opening this fall!)

Oh! by the way, it's pronounced "Lay-nuh"... Don't worry, no one get's it right the first time.

The Mill - LA blog is a space where insight meets expression and inspiration meets design. I have a knack for viewing the world with a unique and creative eye and am known for expressing my own unexpected style. Whether it's the overlooked beauty in Los Angeles, or tips on how to style yourself while penny-pinching, The Mill - LA blog was developed as a space to document the little aspects of life that may otherwise be overlooked. 

The Mill - LA design studio focuses on brand development and strategy as well as apparel and textile design. Primarily centered on boutique brands and agencies, The Mill - LA focusses on powerful branding campaigns, designing meaningful collateral ranging from print to web. I've worked with such companies as Ink_LA, Carbon Project, Murad Cosmetics, Melie Bianco Handbags and Seychelles & BC Footwear and developed successful identities for brands including Mrs. Vintage Rentals, Unknown Traditions, Myford Elementary, and Piccolo Public Relations.
